Psychiatry done differently.
At Renova Psychiatry, we believe mental health care should be thoughtful, personalized, and grounded in long-term wellbeing—not rushed, symptom-focused, or medication-only.
Our approach is based on the understanding that the body and brain have remarkable capacity for improvement. When supported through nutrition, supplementation, nervous system regulation, movement, sleep, and emotional work, many patients notice meaningful improvements in wellbeing. Medication is available when needed, but we aim to use the lowest effective dose and avoid unnecessary long-term reliance when other strategies can help the system heal and function better.
This approach allows patients to:
Improve underlying biology and chemistry, not just mask symptoms
Build resilience within the nervous system
Develop skills and habits that support lifelong brain health
Experience fewer side effects and better functioning over time

Renova Psychiatry operates inside The Bridge Counseling, Consulting & Mediation in Tempe—a well-established therapy practice with additional offices in Gilbert and Phoenix and virtual therapy available statewide.
The Bridge includes licensed therapists who provide individual, couples, and trauma-focused therapy, as well as mediation services. Though Renova Psychiatry is a separate practice, we share a collaborative environment, and many patients appreciate having therapy and psychiatric care in one location.
About Renova Psychiatry
At Renova Psychiatry, mental health care is human, respectful, and genuinely collaborative. Patients deserve more than rushed appointments and trial-and-error prescribing. We take time to understand the full picture—your biology, habits, nervous system, stress, sleep, relationships, and long-term goals—so treatment leads to lasting change, not just symptom suppression.
Why Renova Psychiatry Was Created
Renova Psychiatry was built from the belief that mental health care can do more than manage symptoms—it can strengthen the brain, body, and nervous system for the long run. Many patients want to feel better now while also protecting their health, memory, and cognitive function as they age. Traditional psychiatry rarely includes that conversation.
We created Renova to offer thoughtful medication management alongside supplements, lifestyle support, and longevity-focused strategies—all tailored to the individual.
How Care Works Here
Visits here move at a slower pace than a traditional high-volume clinic. We are not a “quick refill” model.
We explore multiple aspects of wellbeing, including:
Thorough evaluation including medical and psychiatric history
Blood work evaluation including vitamin, mineral, and electrolyte levels
Supplements and nutraceuticals recommendations
Nutrition and metabolic health
Sleep and circadian rhythm
Stress and nervous system regulation
Movement and supportive habits
Therapy or counseling encouraged when appropriate.
Medication when appropriate
Treatment plans are personalized and collaborative—not one-size-fits-all.
We provide care for adults 18+, with a special interest in adults 30+ who may be more focused on prevention, longevity, and long-term brain health.
Care is available virtually throughout Arizona, with an office in Tempe for patients who prefer (or require) in-person visits. Some medications may require occasional in-person vitals, such as blood pressure checks or routine monitoring.
Background
Renova Psychiatry is led by Makenna Francis, MSN, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a background in both integrative and traditional psychiatry. Clinical interests include anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma recovery, cognitive longevity, medication reduction when appropriate, and nervous system-based interventions.

Who We’re a Good Fit For
Renova Psychiatry is a good fit for adults who:
Want a thoughtful, integrative approach to mental health—not rushed appointments
Prefer the lowest effective dose of medication, or are interested in reducing medication when appropriate
Are open to lifestyle strategies that improve mood, energy, focus, and long-term brain health
Value prevention and longevity, not just short-term symptom relief
Appreciate a collaborative pace rather than a brief, prescription-only model
Are willing to participate actively in their treatment plan
We especially enjoy working with adults who want support with anxiety, ADHD, burnout, mood changes, trauma recovery, cognitive longevity, and emotional regulation.
Who We May Not Be the Best Fit For
Renova Psychiatry may not be the best fit if someone is primarily seeking short medication-refill visits, prefers long-term or high-dose medication management without interest in lifestyle approaches, or requires more intensive or crisis-oriented psychiatric care.
In those cases, we’re happy to help connect patients with trusted providers who are a better match for their needs.

Genetic Testing available
Many people come to us feeling hesitant about medication—whether due to past side effects, emotional blunting, or wanting a more natural approach. We understand completely.
If medication is deemed necessary, the goal is always to use the lowest effective dose, and to combine medication with strategies that support the body’s natural chemistry—sleep, nutrition, supplements, nervous system regulation, and lifestyle. For many patients, this allows medication to work better, or even be reduced over time.
When medication decision-making feels uncertain, pharmacogenetic testing (gene testing) can be helpful. It looks at how your body processes certain medications and can provide information about:
Which options may be more effective
Which medications may cause more side effects
Dosing considerations
How quickly or slowly you metabolize certain medicines
Testing is optional. Insurance coverage varies but many patients appreciate having the information. Pricing varies by company, but most reputable labs fall in the $150–$350 range with payment plans available.
One advantage is that results never change—your genetic profile is stable for life—so you only need to complete this test once.
This testing doesn’t replace clinical judgment, but it can make decisions clearer and reduce trial-and-error.
